Event: MTB night ride.
Distance(s): 10-15 miles.
Pace: Moderate.
Difficulty: Some climbing, but the focus will be on fun.
Location: Versailles State Park.
Start at: Trailhead (pool parking lot).
Start Time: 8:00 p.m. at the trailhead parking lot.
Fee, all participants: None. Note that the Park has an admission charge.

Registration Closes: 9:00 p.m. Friday night, July 25, as per our policies.
We haven't done an MTB night ride in ages. We're due. Charge up the lights and let's ride. Note that we have to be off the trails and out of the park by 11:00 p.m. Starting at 8:00 will give us time to ride before curfew, but it means it won't be dark at the start.
If you need to borrow lights, Greg Gardner said he has a couple of lights available. Let us know and we'll pass the word along to him
We originally thought this might be a H.I.C.K.™ Ride, but we like to do those in winter when cinders make road riding into a flatfest and the trails are too easily damaged to allow mountain biking. We may still do a H.I.C.K. Ride this year, but it won't be this one.
Day/Date: Saturday, August 2, 2008.
Event: MTB ride.
Location: Brown County State Park.
Start at: Lytle Park in downtown Madison if you're riding with us or the upper trailhead at BCSP if you're not.
Details to follow. For now, mark your calendar.
For 2008 our MNR and WNR events will go on whether Rich Ries is in attendance or not - his work schedule remains full and his availability questionable. However, another BRAT member who has attended our Ride Leader course must agree to lead the ride. If that doesn't happen and the ride goes on, it is NOT a BRAT event and riders proceed simply as members of the general public. Our Ride Leader course was offered on Saturday, March 29 and was attended by Mark Gish, Byron Nagel, Bud Reed, and David Stucker. Rich Ries was the instructor. We'll schedule another session if there's sufficient interest.
Weekend rides take us onto the roads near home or to various mountain bike trails. We also do  H.I.C.K™ Rides (Historic Indiana Countryside on Knobbies)  where we use our mountain bikes to explore the remote back roads in our area. Send us an e-mail and we'll add your name to the list of those who receive e-mail notifications of these rides.
 BRAT Event Policies
Registration Registration is required for special events by 9:00 the night before the event unless otherwise stated. No registration is required for recurring events (e.g. MNR, WNR). If there are no registrations we reserve the right to cancel or change the event. If no fee is involved, “registration” is simply a phone call or an e-mail to let us know you'll be attending. All events are subject to change. Please check the Web site or contact us for the latest information. Cancellations If we cancel, pre-registrants will receive a full refund as their only compensation. Pre-registrants who cancel more than 48 hours before the start of an event will receive a full refund. Pre-registrants who cancel 48 hours or less before the start of a ride will receive no refund, but may use their full registration fee for future events. Support All participants on BRAT rides receive  SAG Lite - we'll perform those repairs we can handle with the tools we have on hand. Some rides include additional services, which will be detailed in the listing. However, riders and their bikes should be in shape to complete our events unaided. When we vanpool and at most other times when the BRATmobile is available, we have snacks and bottled water and the capacity to perform somewhat more complex repairs. We may also be able provide rides to participants in need. But we're still not the preferred solution to deferred maintenance or inadequate training.
For questions or whatever, call Rich Ries on his cell phone (812-292-0700) or send him an e-mail.
